This me a dumb question as I'm a new owner but, can someone tell me how to remove the headlight trim clips without breaking them?

 

To remove the black clips from the chrome piece just slide them towards the outside edge of the chrome bit. To remove the chrome bit from the car you have to push the little black tab towards the center of the piece until it gets passed the edge of the hood, allowing the chrome trim to pop loose.
