Interior/Exterior how to remove the rear light cluster
one of my rear blinker burned out :???: . i tried to follow the manual and was able to pull the plug. however, for the life of me, i don't know how to take the panel out. the manual mentioned vaguely, push "in the direction of the arrow as shown." i got so many cuts on my hand just trying to ##*#$ remove the panel. can someone give me step and step instruction please....thanks.
If you are trying to remove the rear taillights, it's ez. there is a 10mm bolt that holds the light in, after that has been removed. there is 2 clips that hold the light in, reach your hand to the outside of teh light, and push the clips down, it will pop right out.
You dont need to remove the actual tail light reflector assembly from the car to replace the bulbs. There is a single lock tab near the uppermost bulb which holds the socket assembly on the reflector. Pressing upwards on this tab will release the bulb hlder assembly, which can be withdrawn even with the wiring still attached. Replacing the bulb is an easy matter, the rear fog and turn signal take the same single filament bulb (1156), the brake/tail light (lowermost) bulb is a dual filament (1157). No tools are needed. Make sure not to have any of the lights on when removing ore replacing the bulb holder. It's easy to touch the metal contacts to other metal parts of the car, causing short circuits and blown fuses.
If you feel you must remove the lens assembly make sure upon reinstalling it that the foam rubber gasket is properly in place to keep water from leaking into the car. Also note that the 10mm nut should not be screwed down tight; instead it should be tightened just enough so that the innermost edge of the lamp assembly is flush with the body. If you overtighten it, it will **** the lamp housing in it's mounting, plus you may risk cracking it.
