onefish2,
After seeing the panic sticker I will be buying the eject sticker from Lyle. But the reason why I am sending you a message is because I wanted to know if that box that is under the lower dash near the steering column is a turbo timer or is it something else. I have been looking for a timer and JSC Speed as universal ones and that just freaks me out a little bit to use a universal one. Is that what it is, a turbo timer? All I can see is that it says Level Control.

What is a turbo timer?
Turbo Timer
A turbo timer is a device the keeps the engine running so that it gives the turbo time to cool and lubricate itself. Depending on how hard you run the car or how high you go with the rpm(s) designates how long the car will continue to run after you have officially turned the car off. That is for auto mode. If you have it on manual then you can set how long you want the car to remain on after you shut it off.
I think I will just purchase the Universal one from JSC Speed and then buy a MINI Cooper S wiring harness.

Why would a MCS owner need a turbo timer when Mini's already have a coolant circulator that stays on when the car is turned off? Am I missing something that a turbo timer would be duplication to what's already provided in the OEM system to cool the turbo after engine shut down?
Some owners on this forum say that there is a coolant circulation system for the turbo when the car is off and other say that there isn't one. Some people say that ticking or flowing noise after you shut the car off is what you are hearing is in fact the turbo being cooled down. I myself have no idea, unless someone happens to upgrade the turbo and take apart the stock turbo to actually see from themselves if there in fact really is a turbo coolant circulation mechanism going on in there. That would really be the only way to know. Some dealerships say that there is a system for cool down and other say that there isn't since.
People on here say whether there is one or not that you should drive casually a few miles before you get to your destination so that you have given the engine ample time to cool down or pull in after driving heavily and then let the car idle for 3 to 5 minutes depending on how aggressively you were driving. I would just buy one cause I could. Better to be safe then sorry.

On second thoughts, I'm sure there are people on this forum that drive much harder than me so maybe there is some other condition that needs to be met.
Anyway, this is off topic. I'm going to get the eject button, makes me laugh
