Interior/Exterior Another Plasti Dip question, sorry.
Another Plasti Dip question, sorry.
Just curious of any of you that used Plasti-Dip put some kind of clear coat or anything else over it to give it a gloss finish. I like the idea of using Plasti Dip, based on how simple it is for Joey mod and others, but if I can't get a gloss finish I am just going to sand and paint.
I too have plastidipped parts on my car, but have not tried clear coating. I have read a few threads where people have tried, but I would guess yetti is right, may defeat the purpose of using plastidip.
Plastidip dries pretty good and seems like it will last. Just did my hood scoop, gas cap and headlight rings. Looks great and matches the other trim really well. Tail light rings and grill surround are next! Then, I think I'm going to use it my wheels as well.

I did a little experiment on some interior panels. I wanted to paint them but have it removable so I painted them with 6 layers of plastidip, let it cure overnight, then sprayed the part with Rustoleum high performance enamel and some clear coat. The finish was pretty nice and was totally removable.
So if you're looking for a glossy paint finish but still want it to be removable I'd suggest at least trying this out on some scrap material. It worked great for me.
