MINI OEM Boot Box

Has anyone out there spent the $200 on this? If so, is it useful or a waist. The photos look like it would be worthwhile, but my best estimate is that it can only be 7" deep. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I wouldn't spend $200.00 on it.
There is 1 listed on NAM Marketplace, 1st Gen. Parts, for $50.00 shipped.

Ugh, I have this for my R53, I don't think I spent quite $200, but I remember that is was over $150 from the dealer. Yes it's very cool, yes it is only about 7" deep, and yes it cost waaaay more than it should have. But that said, I use it nearly every day for my cleaning supplies, groceries, lunch bag, and other stuff.

Damn BMW and their goofy cost on accessories. I am still ashamed what I paid for my front window shade reflector. And now my wife wants to get the tissue box for the new R60. Ugh, ugh, ugh...

Tried it and sent it back

(got via mail order; may be on Amazon)

Didn't fit snugly for starters, nor really integrate well with seats folded down.

Have since seen used once or twice for a much lesser price.

I would build a nicer one for way less money.

I have one and like it very much. I have my jumper cables, tow accessories, a few handy tools and some towels and a sheet for covering up the floor when the seats folded all stored in it. Yes, MINI / BMW is ridiculous when it comes to the cost of parts / accessories. I splurged on many items for my MINI (seriously $2000 for the Lounge Leather seats???) that I thought were pretty pricey. That said, I figured the $200 extra for the Boot Box was just another drop in the bucket, considering the overall cost of the car. I am very handy and certainly could have made something very similar for 1/3 of the cost out of high end 3/8 " or 1/2" plywood and it would have worked fine, but I decided to stick with "Genuine MINI Accessories" and I am glad I did.

IMO it goes in the same category as the freaking $100 black carpet floor mats I (stupidly) bought from the dealer when I picked up my Mini.
