Question Xenon headlights question

I ordered my CM without the xenon headlights, but have completely regretted the decision since I've been reading this board. My CM has already been built, and is currently awaiting transport. I would like to know whether or not I can call my MA and have them put the xenons in before I pick up my CM? Will they charge me full aftermarket price? Do they just take out the old lights and put in the new lights? Can they take the xenons out of another CM on the lot and put them in mine? I had built/ordered my CM before I had even known anything about the xenon lights, but the more I read about them, the more I regret not getting them.

Do a search. Somewhere there is a thread on converting to xenon lights. It is neither cheap or easy.

Just a guess, but, I wouldn't count on MINI making the change even for market price. I would expect a lot more than market if they will even do it.

They will not remove lights from another car. At their discretion they might give you some slack on the cost because of your new car purchase, but in general this would be handled like aftersales service on any car (add up the cost of new parts and labor). It will cost much more than the factory option (I'd guess 2-3x).

You could ask the dealer if you can reorder the car. CM are selling well and the dealer may agree to it. Actually it's what happened when I purchased my '06 convertible. It was already being shipped when I cancelled and reordered with a different configuration. I think that technically you can decline taking delivery and apply your deposit towards another car.

I never put a deposit down so I'm good there, but I also just sold my car while I was waiting for my CM to get here so I'm pretty much using my wife's car until I get my CM. Ordering a new CM is pretty much out of the question. I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they can do, but if it's how you guy's say it is, oh well, I've never had xenon lights before anyway....next time, I guess.

If you have never had xenon's you dont now what you are missing so i wouldn't worry about, you can buy the whole light system and plug and play those will run you about $500-700 or buy some sylvania silver star lights your choice.

Well, I spoke with the service department today on the switching of the halogens to xenons and how much it would cost and they told me it would be around $3,000-4,000 on parts alone. He told me that we would have to change the entire wiring system and that it was a huge thing to do. I'm completely discouraged and have moved on. I guess I'll just have to wait until my next MINI to build it with the xenons.
