I went to a sign shop who wraps cars and he suggested 3M 7125 Matt Black vinyl. I paid a little to much for it, after I ordered it I found it on the Internet a little cheaper. But he took the time to help me out so it was cool.

Well almost done my blackout project. I wrapped the taillight rings, head light rings, the grill which was a pain in the BOOT and Vinyl Styles did the belt line. Almost done, I ordered to the covers from Asthetic Creations for the door handles. Here's a couple of phone pics. Thanks again GeoffreyM Please excuse the filthy car, it wont stop raining!!!

Thanks alot....Trust me it's not that hard, just take your time and apply some heat. I used a hairdryer which worked just fine, like I said the hardest was that grill, it had a billion tabs to disconnect from the housing. And the wonderful people on NAM explained how to get the rings loose. The only down fall is sore fingers from wrapping. And nothings more satisfying than doing it your self.

I couldn't wait any longer. When I got off work today I pulled the grill apart and sanded, primed, then painted it. Came out nice.. Was Uber easy..

Last week I bought a second set of headlight trim rings and sent them to the painter.. I wished I wasn't so damn inpatient or I would have painted them myself too.. They will be done Tuesday.. Headlight Bezels next...

Hey, my countryman is arriving in a couple weeks, and I want to smoke out the arch lights and all the reflectors, but I can't seem to find tint strips for a countryman on the web....I've found headlight/tail lightones, but I also don't want to paint them b/c I've heard that actually causes damage. anyone know where i can get the tint stips specifically for a countryman?

Just buy it in a sheet and trim it with a exacto.. Done in minutes. I'm gonna add that to the list ASAP..
I've been buying vinyl from www.tiptopsigns.com. Quick shipping and fair pricing.. They usually have vinyl for lights. Pick your color.

Heres the link

ok so dumb question but do you spray the outside or inside of the light with the VHT?

Looks SO SICK, dude....

It is easy, but you need a steady hand and I would suggest practicing on a clear 2-liter bottle first to make sure you can do it nice and evenly. One can is enough and it's only about $12. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts, but you can also get it online.

FYI, my local tint guy who did my windows and arch lights wanted $200. HA! What a crock!

Thanks! Finished the vht nightshade and it looks great! The plastidip on the emblems is another story....I can't get the lines cleaned up. It looks rough and I think I have a pretty steady hand. Is there a better way to black them out?

Thanks!

Did you take them off or just tape around them?

Front badge has two posts and is secured with double stick foam tape. I used the super sticky 3M stuff with red backing that you can get at home depot. The rear wings see held on with four nuts.

That explains why I couldn't pop off the rear one with a heat gun and a putty knife. Lol

Start with the brake light cover. With a little leverage it pops right off. Then move to the sides. Remove the screws that hold the ***** for the privacy shelf strings. The side pieces have a couple of plastic pop rivets that you'll have to pry out. Then remove the two screws in the handles near the bottom of the door. Then the whole bottom panel will pry off. It is held in place with the same pop rivets from the sides. Approx 10. After you get that off its all very self explanatory. Reverse the process to reassemble and Viola!

good luck.
