Interior/Exterior painting rear spoiler
I have an MCS on order, and may be interested in having the rear spoiler painted a particular color to coordinate with a striping scheme I've concocted.
Have any of you had this done? Does the spoiler need to be removed from the car? Can it be removed? Is it easy to do? Would you recommend removing it to prevent overspray? I'm assuming that removing the spoiler would be the best thing to do, but I have read that it's held on with an adhesive and I'm wondering how it could be best removed.
How much do you think this would cost to have painted?
Thanks in advance for everyone's help. I've been lurking around for a while, and have learned lots of info about the MINI that has been helpful in choosing to buy one!

yes you can remove it, and should be to be painted. there are two bolts on the bottom side of the back hatch. it might be on with double sided tape also. it would run around 100 bucks to paint if you did all the prep work yourslef. if not it could get into the 150 range. a club member here in michgan thought about painting his red to match his red mirror that i did for him. he still might, but more towards spring. take a look here. let me know if you need any other help. chad

The MCS spoiler is held on with double backed tape AND two theaded studs. You can access the nuts by opening your hatch. At the top of the hatch there are three black plastic caps: one on each side and another in the center. Pry off the outermost caps and the nuts will be accessible.
