2011 Dash in a 2010?

Anyone know if its possible to retro fit the new 2011 dash (black gauges) into a 2010 cooper s? The new dash looks much better than the silver.

Not sure, but you might be able to get some of the specific parts (i.e. the controls for the temp +/- and blower). The areas that probably won't be able to be changed are the cd player surround and the radio controls.

Given the car has only been out for a month or so and the availability of the parts in general, I sorta doubt anyone has tackled this feat just as yet.....

The problem is that most of the updated plastic pieces won't be available separately from the controls they are part of. MINI won't sell them that way -- it's how they themselves receive the assembled components from their suppliers. You'd have replace the entire AC/heater control, stereo and toggle panel. My guess is that retrofitting the 2011 style will cost in the neighborhood of $2000. That's just the center stack, before considering the steering wheel and other things that may have changed.

You sir, hit the nail on the head. In other words, it's ridiculously expensive.

Yep I agree the price would not be worth it. I tried fixing one of my A/C controls because the silver rubbed off and they will not sell indivual parts. I would have to buy it all together.

So let's say the silver rubbed off one of the pieces...and they replace it under warranty...what do they replace? Just the piece, or that entire section of the stack?

*wheels turning*

Also, I had a 2011 loaner last week that had the interior chrome package. I loved the all-black controls, but the speedo/tach rings were still silver and not chrome. I think they dropped the ball there.

The dealer replaces whatever is available in the parts catalog. If it isn't listed, it isn't available. For modules in the console stack, that typically means replacing the entire module.

PLastidip would certainly work. I would even venture to take the dash apart. First I need to figure out how I will re-label everything.

Well then I guess by take it apart I meant have Gready at Greasy's Garage in Worcester, MA do it. So I think he's probably taken a dash or two apart.
