Belt Line Removal

Okay, so I'm not sure this has been covered fully. The belt line on any pre-face lift Mini and I'm sure all facelift Mini's CAN be removed. Some say it can't be removed.

Anyways, I think black tap looks tacky to black out the belt line so I decided another route.

If you pull hard enough and delicately enough on the end caps of each belt line segment they will eventually snap off. Each segment has about 5 plastic clips. Once off you can properly tap each segment and paint as desired (without having to tap the entire car and risk overspray).

I'm in process of painting each segment. I will take pictures of the belt line removed so you can see what it looks like.

Hope this helps someone ( I went at it blind hoping to not ruin an expensive exterior piece).

Sorry I posted in the wrong forum. Hopefully a mod can move it to Gen 1 exterior/interior.

All done...came out perfect. Much better than tape. I was in the painting mood so I decided to paint my door handles too.
