'05 sidescuttles

I'm wanting to change the color of my side scuttles on my 05 mcs, I've read all the post about removal and that they just pop out, but when I looked @ the inside of the fender it looks like a welded nut to hold the scuttle in. Is this an actual nut with a screw or bolt somehow burried in the emblem or is this the female part of the press in?

Just press in. I had to push/ manipulate a lot harder than I would have thought to get the new ones in properly. In fact, I though one just sat a little funny, turns out it wasnt all the way in. It was mostly out by the time I got home from a quick trip. So if it looks like it is a little askew, try working with it some more. I was really lucky not to lose it.
