Interior/Exterior Mirror Caps
Mirror Caps
I bought a 2004 Dark Silver MCS with a White roof. The car was wrecked when I bought it and I'm in the process of fixing it. One of the parts that I have to replace is the passenger side mirror cap. The car came with chrome caps and that's what's on the driver side right now. Luckily my uncle owns a body shop so I get parts for his cost but it's still $85 for one chrome mirror cap. The alternative is to buy two primer'd mirror caps for $30 each and paint them. I'm already painting part of the car with Dark Silver so I could just throw that on there or I could try to find some paint to match the white roof.
I know it's a bit subjective but I'm wondering what you think. What should I do?
A) Spend $85 on one Chrome mirror cap
B) Buy two primer'd mirror caps for $30 each and paint them both Dark Silver
C) Buy two primer'd mirror caps for $30 each and paint them both White
D) Just put a bunch of Duck/Duct tape where the mirror cap would go (j/k)
Here's a pic of the car for reference.

It depends on if you want to stick with the chrome caps. I would go with painting them to match the roof or go dark silver. I'm not fond of chrome on my mini too much.
But the duct tape idea is dead last on my choices.

to be honest, i think the white roof looks out of place on that car without having white somewhere else... so paint the mirror caps white or paint the roof body color too.
Ps. i hate chrome.

Anybody have any ideas for a cheap but good looking way to paint the primed caps white? That's sort of what I am leaning toward, or buying JumpingJackFlash's mirror caps. I hate to buy white automotive paint just for mirrors. Anybody had any luck with a particular paint that's cheap, matches the OE color well, and would be easy to apply.
I think that the "primer'd" caps are flat black but I'm not sure.

FYI- I remembered that I know a MINI Parts guy- I dialed him up and he says unpainted caps come in flat black or gray. penskeparts.com shows them for $38 each, which means dealer price is probably around $90
