I want to completely replace the cheesy grey plastic trim on the tach and the speedometer with chrome (or black!). I don't want the add-on trim -- I want to take the old ones out and replace them. Where is the best place to get this stuff from?

I believe only MINI has actual replacement trim rings. Everything aftermarket that I've ever seen is stick-on.

However. chrome rings are not available separately from MINI for the tach and speedo,. The speedo ring comes with the large center dash trim piece, and the tach ring is only available with the complete gauge!

MINI chrome trim looks like what it is... chrome plated plastic. If you like black, you should just paint them. Personally I wish the trim was available in real brushed metal.

Well, damn; it just looks so cheap the way it is. Thanks for the info.

Who makes good stick-on chrome trim?

Stick on chrome trim looks pretty trashy imo. Plus it would look dumb with the rings still silver. I special ordered the chrome line pieces as a retrofit from Morristown MINI. I beleive it was around $250. That bought me everything that comes with the option from the factory minus the tachometer trim and the trim ring around the shifter. Morristown is the best place to get pieces like that.
