Mini R56 Chromeline Interior Kit Retrofit

I want to buy the OEM chromeline retrofit kit, but mini have told me that it doesn't come with install instructions. Has anyone done it, and how easy is it? Can any one supply pictures or instructions of how to fit the kit.

Thanks guys

I am also curious about this! I just bought a new JCW off the lot and I'm a little disappointed it didn't have the chrome already.

Any body who has suggestions on how to do it, please post it here!

Thanks!

It's quite a bit of work. Instructions are here: http://home.cogeco.ca/~djdnz/Chrome%...20How%20To.pdf

Depending on the look you want, there's another less expensive aftermarket option that's more chrome/much easier to install. Outmotoring is one of the vendors who sells it: http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop..._trim_kit.html

I did the retrofit on my previous 2007 MCS. It took an afternoon to complete, but was not really difficult ( just a bit time consuming as some of the screws can be a bit tedious to deal with). IMO, the aftermarket chrome stuff looks cheap, I would do the OEM and not mess with stick on chrome. Especially at the price of that aftermarket stuff...

And fwiw, I ordered all the chrome pieces through Morristown as they offered the best prices.

You should know that you cannot order two of the necessary rings by themselves; IE the tachometer trim and the shifter ring. The tach ring can only be acquired by purchasing a new tachometer. I just painted mine flat black as spec'ed on 2011 and newer MINIs (tach faceplate unscrews via 3 screws behind the tach housing). As for the shifter ring, this can be had by just buying a new shift boot. I have a spare genuine leather shift boot with a chrome surround for a manual gearbox if you want it.

I went with the Outmotoring kit. It gave me the exact look I wanted and it does not look aftermarket. Really easy to install and it definitely classed up the interior without being cheesy.
