Acrylic shift ***** and LED's

So I have a friend who does acrylic work and has his own internet shop for various items. I threw the idea out there of him making me a custom acrylic shift **** and he said it would be no problem.. I thought of the idea of maybe inserting a small concealed LED that I could somehow tap into the mood lighting so that I could change the shift **** glow at my demand. Is that possible? Also if it comes out nice and anyone is interested in these shifters, I might let him know so he can produce larger quantities.

You could easliy make it glow one color but getting it to work with the changing mood light will not be so easy. The mood lighting is done by three different color leds and varying their output. If you can get the part from the dealer then it would be easy to do after finding the right set of wires to attach to, but from what i have seen of the parts they are not designed for looks. Probably the best looking one to use is the one in the overhead console. The ones in the pillars are rather wide and have a large set of wire coming out of them.
