painting the body

hey guys this is to anyone who's ever repainted their whole exterior of their mini or have gotten an estimate to do it....not just tid bits on the car but the whole car

people who have done it:
i just want to know what was the cost of you having to re-paint your whole mini in a differ color or just respray factory?

people who got estimates:
what was the estimate pricing they were offering you to do it?

and for both:
were you able to use your insurance for any discounts?

been wanting to repaint my whole car non factory colors....and am not really into doing my car in full vinyl vehicle wrap just yet...but if prices are to high for paint then i might as well do vinyl....the only thing with the vinyl is, i don't think it would do justice for the gloss and mirror shine like car paint....unless proven wrong then i might just do it since people say its cheaper then paint.....

if you guys got photos of your re-paint or full vehicle vinyl post up pics....i've seen langstons and vicskimmer and think its wonderful in those satin colors but i'm looking towards the glossy look....

and does vinyl offer metalic gloss colors also?

Step 2: Apply to one body panel
Step 3: Wax car
Step 4: Compare results
Step 5: ????

Whoa now, I didn't say that they'd be the same. I honestly don't know because the largest pieces of gloss vinyl I've had on my car were some white checkers. I've heard that a vinyl wrap will not be as glossy or have as much "mirrorness" as a paint job would, but I don't have any first hand knowledge.

It's easy to try vinyl out to see how it compares to the sheen of your paint though. And as far as I'm aware wax will not harm the vinyl.

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with for results!

haha yeah i'm going to go look at a vinyl shop sometime today if i have a chance and just by a small roll and do a comparison between the paint and vinyl and then do another comparison wth wax applied to vinyl and compare again to the paint lol

haha i didn't mean to sound like i was gona go out and do it just yet lol....been planning it but i will do a comparison check first and see what happens then we'll see
