Just wanted to know how to remove the secret compartment cover, and the trim piece behind the tach. That would be the both silver painted bits.

 

I know Moss Mini sells a non-marring tool kit for these types of things. However, I don't know how its done.

The parts you are talking about come off in two different ways.

The Secret compartment cover has two torx screws in it that hold it in place on the compartment hinge setup.

The cover behind the tach just pulls off. It has clips that hold it in place.

You have to pull a lot harder than you thing to get it off.

 

schatzy62 - Is there a DIY thread that gives directions for adding a hidden cig lighter plug for a GPS and routing instructions for the wires inside the dash panels up to the steering wheel area. I also want to run a hidden audio wire from the same location (GPS Mp3 player) to the aux input in the compartment at the bottom of the center stack.

I can't locate a thread that gives me directions.

 

Does anyboy know how to remove R56 two spoke steering & replace it with Sports three spoke steering. Thanks

 

For instructions on assembliing/disassembling just about any part of the car, get the BMW TIS manual on DVD from eBay (very cheap because they are all pirated copies).

Look at the pdf in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...and-wheel.html. It describes 3 spoke to JCW but the procedure is the same.
