Driving Lights Not Turning Off With Low Beams

I installed the PIAA driving lights per the specs and the great sticky on this forum. The lights only power up when I've fully activated the lights on the stalk. Here's the issue: They do not turn off when I deactivate the high beams. They remain on in low beam and high beam. Yes, I have the switch powered off the high beam wire. I think. Can't even see the wires going to the low beam bulb. There are three wires going into the high beam housing. Tapped into the hot wire here. I do have the day time running lights activated. Could this be the issue? If I have the dealer program out the day time running lights, will the driving lights then only work with the high beams?

Thanks.

The daytime running lights are likely the problem. The daytime running lights are really just your high beams modulated at less than 100% duty cycle. So, if your DRLs are on, your high beams are technically on as well.

I'm glad you asked this question. Both my MINI and my wife's MINI have the dealer-installed OEM driving lights, and I've always wondered why they didn't turn off with the low beams. I always assumed that the tech didn't install them correctly, but both of our cars have DRLs enabled as well, so I bet that's why the driving lights aren't going off with the low beams.

Wait, you can have DTRL?!?
That's the ONLY thing I dislike about my lights right now because I didn't think that was possible!

Can I just go to the dealer to have them activate it?
Will it work for my '05 Cabrio Justa?

You're getting me excited. Haha.
