Subs under rear seats? (R53)

Would it be possible to get two subs (prolly 12") under the rear seats of an R53, have the seats put back in, and still have a functional automobile? Haha.

I saw images of a guy who removed the seats and put in a fiberglass housing for some mighty subs. But, sad to say, my car is a passenger car sometimes for work.

That would be a little tough to do I would think. There really isn't any room under there. The rear seat is basically just enough foam for a comfortable seat.

No. Unfortunately, as you've probably already figured out, there's really no "under" when it comes to the back seats. The seat bottom rests right on sheet metal, and the gas tank is right under the sheet metal, so you couldn't cut holes in the metal and mount sub enclosures from underneath without relocating the gas tank.

I've seen some enclosures for smaller subs that go in the rear side pockets, but I don't think you're going to be able to put a pair of 12s *anywhere* in a MINI without losing a significant amount of interior volume.

Hmm. That'd be nice, nonetheless. Got any more info on that in particular?

Here's one from JL Audio that uses a 10" W3-v2.

Looking at it more closely, it does protrude a good bit into the cargo area behind the seats, so it may not be what you're looking for, either.

Might want to take a look at JL Audio's new TW5 woofer line. They are 2.5" thin and come in 12" and 13" sizes. The box dimensions to operate at optimum are also space saving.
