I am going to Plasticote my headlight rings. If I take these off and break off all of the tabs (worse case scenario) is it possible to utilize the 3M tape as the only way of keeping the headlight ring secure or do I need to have at least some of tabs in order to secure?

Yes. But make sure its the really strong stuff.

 

yep, buy the industrial strength 3m. your likely to break a couple tabs if you dont remove the headlamps, but unlikely u will break all of them.
