they only reflect when light shines directly on them, like from a camera flash or headlights from another car. it's not bright enough to replace lighting.

I've always been fascinated with those cars, and since I've never seen one for sale, and would never be able to afford one even if I did, I decided to make my own. I met an artist named Tristan Eaton at the NYIAS, where he was painting the roof of a Ford Flex on the show floor. He has designed shoes for Triple 5 Soul, toys and cartoons for Kid Robot, and laptop casings for Dell Computers. He agreed to create a piece that will make my car one of the most unique Mini's on Earth, and to film it for Garage 419. Here is the result. It is 100% original artwork, and it will never be replicated. The whole design is done in black and white reflective vinyl, which has some pretty cool properties at night when it gets lit up by a camera flash or car's headlights.

And if anyone cares, the car's specs and mods:
2006 MCS JCW
18" JCW Wheels
JCW Carbon Wing
Palo Uber Scoop
Piaa Lights
Mini Mania Intake
Mini Mania Long Tube Headers & Race Cats
Farnbacher Loles Custom Software
Alta 15% Pulley
Valentine One / Blinder Laser Jammers
Uniden CB Radio
AI Design Custom Brake Light Cut Out

that's pretty dope. I would however like to make a request.... slam that thing to the ground!!!! that's all it's missing :P

p.s. on second look. if you put the stock scoop in and wrapped the pattern over it... that would be the end all.

I like how the sides look like you are doing a massive burnout all the time!

I'm getting lowering springs in a few weeks. I live in New York, so I can't make it too low, but a little bit won't hurt. As for the scoop, it's functional so I'm gonna leave it for now. That and I sold the stock one.

MattF NYMC---Your MINI looks great! My dealership sells the art car models, but I think they cost around $150. I want them all but the cost is too much.

Have the police given you any trouble at night with the reflection of the vinyl?

havent been pulled over yet, but on two separate occasions this week cops have pulled out and followed me for a couple miles. i expect pull-over's at some point, which is why i have my corvette for when i want to be more low key (i can't believe I'm saying that!)

That Lambo is totally sweet. Someone needs to do that to an actual daily driven Lambo.

Reflective vinyl is definately the good stuff!!!
Here is my "art car".
This was done a month ago for MOTD, and this car was my inspiration:
It is Richard Lloyd Racing's Porsche 962c GTi from 1988. Lloyd just passed away a few months ago in a plane crash, so this was my homage to his design.

I would have prefered to do more logos to cover more of the car, but my vinyl guy ran out of time, but there will be more designs in the future for sure.

BTW, MattF, I love your design.
Very U-nique, however, I must agree with slammin' that puppy, it will look way sweet!!
Good choice on the # too. 7 Rocks!

very nice!!! That should bring in some trophies. After lowering, keep an eye on tire wear for the rear ones. rear camber will increase. adjustable arms will be needed to correct if tire wear (inner shoulders) is excessive.

What model antenna is that? You must have been cringing as you drilled into the roof!

kind of hard to hide from a cop tho..either at night or in the day..
still looks awesome. i wonder if anyone has a black mini with reflective black vinyl?
so it's hidden in the day time and shining at night.
props for MattF NYMC and coobah for a very unique look

The sharpie Lambo belongs to my friend Brett David, and believe it or not, that car is his daily driver. Rolling around South Beach with him in that car is a lot of fun, and the Lambo was part of the inspiration for my car.

As for the antenna, it's for my Uniden CB radio, and at 4 Feet, it's kind of a pain in the *** in parking garages etc, but it's worth it when the truckers are calling out cop spots from 30 miles away! Drilling into the roof is only painful if you don't fill the hole with something more useful than one square inch of metal

Is there clear coat over the sharpie on that lamborghini? I think it would yellow over time without it.
