HMMM...I was wondering when they were going to come out with this for the R56. I also would like to see some more angles and further away shots. It would be really sweet looking in CF also. It's tuff because I just bought the JCW CF scoop.

I'm sure ALTA wants to provide MINI owners with every part they possibly can. M7 carries top quality parts so naturally ATLA will carry them. It looks like they only offer a few of the same parts(control arms, intake) where the rest of their product line seems to compliment each other.
It's not like the Honda world where everyone and their mother is making and selling parts, that usually suck anyway.

Agree with you, that's why I wish someone can provide us pics of their Mini with this installed. Not just the close-up pics.

Aerogel is a low-density solid-state material derived from gel in which the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with gas. The result is an extremely low density solid with several remarkable properties, most notably its effectiveness as a thermal insulator. It is nicknamed frozen smoke,[1] solid smoke or blue smoke due to its semi-transparent nature and the way light scatters in the material; however, it feels like expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam) to the touch.
Actually the aerogel is used by M7 in their heat shield. Little overkill in my mind, but then I want to shed heat... not trap it next to the turbo.
But actually that is a completely different thread, and product.
The intake is just a piece of plastic, that replaces the current one on the hood.

Usually, the plastic parts come with gel-coat.
not areo-gel. This seals the plastic, and allows for some light sandling etc prior to priming and painting. It also smooths the surface. If they are flat black, maybe it's something else.
FWIW, Aero-gel can have different density, depending on the cell size (% free space). It can be made extremely light, such that you can't really see it unless it's a big piece (the smoke reference).

A bit of an update on the scoop finish. It comes in a black gel coat which can be left as is or easily painted over . The one on the yellow car has a black textured finish. BTW thanks to DR. O and Jacemin for the explanation on the aerogel, saved me some typing

I'd love to see the scoops come stock (from you, even as an extra $ option) with that textured finish so that it closely matches the wheel arches/side skirts/etc
The nose of the car picks up so many stones/chips.
Something like the Wurth bumper coat, it's cheap, easy to apply, looks great, protects from rocks. If I had to, I'd go out & buy the applicator gun & do it myself, but it's messy, smelly, & overly expensive for a single tiny application.
any similar pictures of the Ram-2 for comparison ? & how do the openings on the backside of the scoop compare with stock ? do they have a larger opening to the engine bay, or just a bigger set of lips for grabbing air ?

Does anyone have anymore pictures? any color. i'm really torn between the jcw carbon fiber and this one. jcw looks awesome, and this one looks cool too, and possibly adds some small amount of functionality. anyway, pics please.
