Hey,

I like the look of the car without the antenna in there. Anyone have any ideas about what to plug it up with? Doesn't have to be black but that would be nice. For the time being I thought about maybe vasoline, but I haven't tried it yet. I am looking for a more permanent solution. Ideas?

Plug up the hole left from removing the antenae with vaseline??? Either I'm totally not following you or you're kidding. How big is the leftover opening?

Um..not kidding. I just mean the hole like if you unscrew the antenna. It's maybe a quarter of an inch in diameter. Yeah, vasoline is a stupid idea but it would keep water and air out.

you might try going to a local hard ware store and look for a plastic or ruber sheet metal plug.
They are black and should fit the need. That way if you dicide you want to put the antanna back on
you just pull it off - no harm done to the paint. A long term solution would be boddy puddy, tape and
paint.

I take it then that you don't use the radio, and don't expect that anyone in your car will do so either?

If I were to take off the antenna altogether, I'd take off the black base too and then make/find a nice plastic cap to cover the hole in the roof (paint it roof color). Silicon seal it on so that it doesn't leak.

Have you thought about the shorty antenna?

DiD, good idea. An obvious one too. I'm going to try to find one.

I did think about a shorty antenna but I really am the only one who ever drives the car and since November the radio has never been on.

This thread is insane. Pezboy, turn on that damn radio! Get a shorty antenna from Alta performance, and listen to AM or FM or even Rush Limbaugh. But for the love of Pete, turn on that radio.

This message has been brought to you by the ClearChannel network, and Rupert Murdock.

p.s. it must be that those litle sugar candies (pez) have affected your brain. Eat something more substantial like Dunkin Donuts.

Yeah, what's your deal with radio? No radio stations play music I want to hear. I have my iPod.

I can't believe you are suggesting listening to AM radio over my own tunes!! Insanity. I can understand some people wanting to hear the engine as opposed to music while they drive, and I do too...but...Rush Limbaugh?!

Dunkies is crap. We got our first Krispy Kreme here and those are good, even if they are an instant artery-clogging doughnut.

I totally agree! With garbage corporations like clear channel, etc buying up all the radio station and producing a playlist of about 70 songs repeated throughout each day, and with 40% commercial content, radio really stinks theses days. When I'm not listening to the engine or CDs, I listen to an NPR station.

As for a suggestion, I agree with plugging it. Try using a black plastic plug like the ones found to cover screw holes in the interior panels. Look for them at a hardware store or radioshack.
Certainly not vaseline, it gets thinner with heat and will end up all over your roof.

Aha! I thought you were saying that you removed the antenae and the base piece. So if it's just the antenae, you could:

-use a plastic cap as other's describe
-cover with electrical tape
-buy a shorty
-hot glue and touch-up paint

Oooooh...Krispy Kreme, oops-yes about the antenna. Just buy the shorty antenna for a HONDA S2000 for $16 with shipping at: universal shorty antenna

It looks great and gives better reception I think.

Whatever you do, I would suggest NOT doing something permanent. While you may never use the radio the entire time you own the car, if you ever decide to sell it or trade it in, it might cause you problems....

Step 1. Buy a pack of Wrigleys gum (spearmint will work best for this mod).
.
Step 2. Remove wrapper from gum.

Step 3. Chew gum for five minutes. (please do not chew for more or less otherwise you will lose horsepower).

Step 4. Plug hole with chewed gum.

Step 5. Enjoy your new plugged antenna hole and motor on.

I'm in the same boat. If it weren't for somewhere down the line possibly reselling the car, I'd get rid of the mount, altogether. As it is I have the S2000 antennae, but am going to replace it with one off an audi TT as soon as I can (it's a lot shorter than even the Honda one)

It you find a suitable plug, PM me. I'd like to go that route too. Then paint it all white to mate the top and make it blend in more.
