Newly Installed Arm Rests and Boots for My R56

Below are some pictures of my INSTALLED shift boot, ebrake boot, center arm rest, and door arm rests, all done by Maciek at REDLINE GOODS in black leather with white piping. I have the lounge leather seats. I had to remove all the pieces and send them to Poland and drive without them while they were being made. I didn't install any of these myself, I had a professional do it, but I can tell you that I haven't found a way to remove the automatic shift ****. I am very happy with the way everything came out and I would highly recommend REDLINE GOODS. They did a great job and it matches my interior exactly. Check out my gallery for additional pictures.

Yes, the JCW tuning kit is available for the automatic transmission in the US. I live in NJ and put my name on the list with Issaic at Princeton Mini and it came in end of September and then I got it installed in the beginning of October. Love It!

Very nice. I'm definitely going to check out the ebrake and shift boots. My MINI has the cream color line and no arm rest so other components would be unnecessary. They're gorgeous on yours though.

Would you mind describing the real world differences with the kit on the automatic MCS. I have had some seat time with a stick shift JCW but it was barely broken in and hard to tell. It did feel more free breathing.

My dealer seems to think its still unavailable for automatic trans MCS cars yet. I will be showing him your post. Any addt'l info would be appreciated. Thanks.

So is that just the factory armrest lid recovered, or is it an entirely new lid? If it's new, does it stay closed better than the factory one?

I think that would be worthy of a new thread in the Drivetrain forum.

In response to rattmobbins....

I had the "factory" armrest lid covered....It does stay closed better now then it did before, but still opens occassionally.

I was also told by my dealer it is not available for the automatic. Does the auto kit change the shift points or boost during auto gear changes differently than the stick or is the software a simple timing and air fuel adjustment so you are using the manual cars setup.

Any info would be helpful.

when I mentioned the fact that someone had a kit installed in an auto trans MCS to the head tech at my dealer, though surprised because his bulletins show manual trans cars only, his response was...why not--the auto trans would not be involved in any engine remapping. The trans only responds to the torque curve of the engine. Hmmmm---we will see...

Think about this--if BMW uses the same auto trans in all their different versions of the 3 series , for example , do you think each auto trans has a separate program written for it specifically. I am technically challenged so I don't know....maybe someone else does.

You and Issak were correct. It can be done. I just picked mine up thanks to your valuable assitance. My dealer was as suprised as I was when the kit arrived and the install went seamlessly.

The kit makes a noticeable differnece in power delivery. The trans shifts
better up and down in the automatic mode, the throttle repsonse in non- sport mode is much closer to the sport mode, might even steer a bit lighter and it sounds much better. Weather here has been kind of "iffy" so not too many ventures on the high side of the tach BUT it pulls big time with a nice high perf growl at high revs. The new pipes look alot better than the old Pep Boys looking OEM ones.

Since I have not driven/seen any Alta modded cars, I can not speak to "value" but, IMHO, this kit is an excellent performance bump for the MCS for those who value piece of mind and seamless integration of modifications. I really like it

What colors did you order from Redline Goods to get the color match for the lounge leather?

Sorry, I meant the black lounge leather with the cream piping.

Here is what the black leather looks like:

Cream is one of the "secondary leather" options. So, I think they have cream piping.
