Interior/Exterior Chrome Source needed
#1
All this talk about chrome bits. Anyone have any good sources for chrome shops. I had nothing but problems with companies in the past while restoring classics. They usually charge an arm and a leg and take 2 to 3 times the time to finish the work. I'm thinking about chroming some accent pieces on My S (air intake trim ring) front grill + Lwr section).
Thanks,
Scott

Hi, F1Mini! Welcome to MCO! If you want chrome stuff, check out http://www.rspeed.net. Every so often someone recommends something cool & I scribble a note...found that site in my MINI notes!
Cheers!

It will be next to impossible to have any plastic items chromed on the outside of your car. Electroplating plastic is non-existant and the ones that do, do not guarantee the finish.
Best bet is to have only metal items chromed, but again, you risk having a lousy job done if you get the wrong people. Stick to the IL Motorsport stuff (www.rspeed.net/mini/). Oh, also pick up a Hemmings Motor News mag and look up chromers in there as well.

My next door neighbor sells some do it yourself kits for chroming.
I am not sure how expensive they are as I am a few months (hopefully not years) away from restoring my '66 Chevelle. (this car is twice as long as my MINI) I know he knows the products well and maybe I will be venturing into a little chroming side business in the future.
Anyway, if ya want to check out his site, it's http://www.absolutech.com and then look up metal finishing.
