i called about this mabe 2-3 weeks ago and he stated that the idea had been scrapped. he said that it was over $500 to make the part. he said he could make one if i wanted but it wouldnt be cheap. seemed like a nice guy but 500 bucks is just too much for this i think.

I don't believe that you can remove it but you can cover it. Do a search for beltline blackout. I also wrote a tutorial here: http://www.russellcory.com/blog/?page_id=19#Project2

Thanks! I've been thinking about the ADIDAS, I found some for sale. They look great & felt good in the store.

But the green & white Piloti Prototipo are still calling my name…

Ugh, decisions…

What do you mean by "Take off the beltline"? It's not a very clear question.

Do you mean remove the chrome? Or remove the entire beltline from the car completely?

If somebody was proficient enough with CF and knew how the beltline was constructed, someone could create their own... there was a link to eBay yesterday for a sheet of CF (50" x 24" IIRC).

which ever i need to do to paint it
(aka which ever's easier while still allowing me to paint all the chrome)

ps. for anyone blacking stuff out I am a success story of the PLASTIDIP theory. it's awesome matte black + no sanding +, the best part, IT'S REMOVABLE!!!!!!!! but i wouldn't suggest anything but the black; the other colors are kinda dull (i tried the red)

It's very easy. I've just taken mine off, and reinstalled it. The one on the tailgate just clips off, start at one side, and pull it away perpendicularly from the body. Then go to the driver and passenger door, pull that upwards towards the sky, starting at the back of the door where it meets the rear quarter. Then start at the rear quarter trim, again, pulling it away perpendicularly from the body, starting where the door is, and moving back towards the tailgate.

For the two under the windscreen, it's not as easy, you need to temporarily open both doors, roll down the windows, and pull the rubber seals from around the door away. You'll see 5 screws holding on the black windscreen plastic surrounds on the far left and right. Undo the bottom one, and you'll be able to pull the plastic lip that's part of the trim, out and under from the black windscreen plastic surround, then just pull it away perpendicularly from the body again. Nice and easy, just take your time!
