Where to get a drivers side OEM cupholder?

Darn that OctaneGuy!

I was perusing through old emails and found a link to his (old?) ShowCarGarage.com forum. Cool write ups as always, but then I saw this...

...and now I want one! Just how does one obtain a Driver side OEM cupholder, anyway? No- seriously!

(read the write-up here)

Hey! That does look really good!

I bought a cupholder for my boyfriend who lives in England because they are not available even for sale across the pond! He had to mount it to the same side of the downtubes as well. I didn't think of that at the time when I bought it and sent it to him and was worried that it wouldn't fit. He was able to switch it by taking it apart and swapping it somehow. Without having to drill new holes or make any big changes like that.

If you play around with it and can't figure it out, let me know and I'll ask him for a more detailed explanation of how he did it. When I was over in Europe for MINI United this past summer, I saw the cupholder in action on the opposite side it was intended for, and it was working fine and it was impossible to tell that it wasn't originally meant for that side!!

It's the same cupholder with the mounting pad upside down. You can pull the metal part out of the pad, it is just a spring fit.
