Removing MCS gas cover

Just as the title says, Im trying to remove the cover to paint it black. Im asking before I break or screw something up. If there is an easier way please let me know. Thanks.

Is this something that aids in taking off the cover. (the half circle hole in the bottom) SEE PHOTO BELOW....

It seems as though we have the same idea when it comes to our cars! lol I want to black out the chrome gas cap, door handles, and light rings. If you find an easy way to get the gas cap off, let me know, that's one of the next things I plan to do.

Nice. I already masked off the car and have painted the cover. But this is a wicked find. Thanks.
