Actually I just found out (while searching for pictures) MINI used Recaros in the later cars (The GPs I believe) and earlier ones had Sparco.

$285 for the front seats with the full piping of black and light grey pipes.

No rear seats necessary, they're down 99.999999% of the time anywho.

How much for just the front English Panther?

These are NICE! But that JCW logo probably keeps them well out of my price range. Oh well, back to scrounging junkyards for EVO seats.

I'm sure they're just regular Sparcos with custom JCW stitching but I can't figure out exactly which models they are, I'd like a set and whatever brackets and sliders were used to mount them.

How does one attach evo seats, or any other seat to mini brackets? Are there universal brackets?

MINI's use a fairly standard seat mount....the spacing is the same as my EVO Recaro's front to rear and only off by 5/8" laterally. Speedware Motorsports, VAC Motorsports, Wedge Engineering, Sparco and Recaro all make solutions for this. I'm going with a bracket that raises the seat up close to the lowest stock height.

Can you explain what you actually did to shim the front of the seat up? We're about the same height, and I imagine we have the same issue: no thigh support from the stock seats, right? Thanks

I've recently tried lifting the seat 90% of the way UP, and this has helped a bit for both myself and my wife in the passenger seat.

I still think I'm going to get some Wet Okoles, but $300 to maybe, maybe not help is tough to swallow.

The originator of this thread didn't meantion which seats they have. I ordered my car with the cloth seats as I was ordering Wet Okoles to get the interior colors I wanted.

My car was delivered with the wrong seats, they were leatherette. I found them to be much stiffer and harsher, they also transmitted the exhaust drone and more road harshness to my sit upon. ( All a matter of taste of course, I'm sure others prefer the firmer seat) The dealer switched them for me when they got a car in with space grey coth as I had ordered. They were the same shape sport seats but end up much firmer when covered in leatherette than cloth.

I can speak from actual experience of having both that the cloth seats are a very different feel from the leatherette at least, more so the longer you're in the seat. If you have leatherette or leather arrange a test ride in a cloth seat car and see what you think. If you like them better it'd be a easier swap and you can probably find some from a wreck or someone doing after market seats.

Thanks for the input!

I thought about this exact thing, but it seems anyone with cloth seats really wants to keep them!?!

Had an idea - does anyone know if it's possible to put seats from a 2007 MINI into an earlier model? It wouldn't be an inexpensive solution, but it probably would be the best solution since it would be a factory replacement and retain the side airbags.

they fit physically (I checked as I had a deal worked out for a set), the issue is the plug(s). R56 cars have one large one....R53's up to five small ones. No big deal to change over pin assignments, etc but not as simple as a bolt-in swap.

I think so. They are a bit wider and deeper...you sit in them instead of on them.

I haven't spent much time in an R56, but the seat was noticeably better when I sat in one in the showroom. I don't know if that translates into long-term comfort on a drive, though.

Have I got a deal for you guys! ;-) I have Wet Okoles in MINICHI, front only, did a RSD, and "monto" you and I are both in THMMC, so you can sit/ride in them at the next event. I'm at most of them...

As for comfort, yes, better, no won't fix the issue with these seats, (that they suck for long periods of seat time ;-0 ). They are good looking, clean up easily and provide some small level of comfort.

I have the leather sport seats and find them to be comfortable. I was however thinking of doing something like this:

Does anyone have these in their car...and if so, how are they?

I love the sheepskins in my other car, but they cover the entire seat, not just the center as the new MINI ones do (suppose for the air bags).
What kind do you have? The full ones that cover the whole seat? (And if so, where did you find them?) Or these ones that seem to sit in the center?
THANKS!
