Clear Bra or not?

I am thinking to get clear bra for my R56. How many of you guys have it. Do you like it? Thank you.

Crashton 08-03-2007 08:18 PM

I didn't get it on my R53. Two weeks into ownership I was regretting not having it. IMO yep get it.

welshmenwillnotyield 08-03-2007 08:21 PM

I have it on both my MINIs and swear by it, unless you enjoy touching up paint chips. It was expensive, but it was the best thing I could do to keep my cars looking like new, besides keeping them washed and detailed. I'd even venture to say that whenever it comes time to sell them, their value will be better than those cars without the ClearBra.

ejn09 08-03-2007 08:26 PM

Go for it. The nose of youre car will thank you.

Use Plexus or a similar product to keep "road crap" from sticking.

UKSUV 08-04-2007 12:25 AM

I guess Im the ONLY one that SWEARS AT IT!

billie_morini 08-04-2007 01:40 AM

It is a "must do."

gokartride 08-04-2007 02:34 AM

I didn't have one on my R50 and over time picked up some stone chips, which on Indi Blue didn't look too good. After a wreck  I wound up w/ a new, freshly painted bonnet and this time put a clear bra on. It was great! So, when I got my R56 I got one, too. I think they're very worthwhile...lots of MINI owners get them.:)

MLPearson79 08-04-2007 10:06 AM

Get it. Definitely.

10 months, 22k+ miles, ZERO rock chips.

bobafetts3 08-05-2007 01:14 AM

Yeah.. I've got rock chips that need to be fixed, then I'm getting one. I wish the dealership told me about them when I got the car.

I just found a guy recommended by the local BMW dealership. He quoted me $399 for hood/fenders/mirrors and $569 for all that plus the front bumpers. He admitted only having done one other MINI before, but promised he'd do a flawless job after I told him I had MINI owner friends who needed this done also.

Is this a resonable price?

MLPearson79 08-06-2007 09:29 AM

Not sure what's normal to your local area, but that's a good price compared to what we're paying here!

Frank Matyja 08-06-2007 09:30 AM

It's a must, I have one on my 04 MCS and no repeat no chips...

hunter99 08-06-2007 06:00 PM

Got it when I got my MINI and have never regretted it. IT has saved me several time already from some nasty stone chips.

Tess 08-06-2007 06:02 PM

judging my the nicks and scratches i have already.. most definitely worth it, i'm getting it next week

2007MiniMe 08-06-2007 07:05 PM

I have an R56 and i have the whole hood, front bumper, mirror caps, roof before sunroof, by the back hatch, headlights and fog lights. I installed it a week after I bought her and it was the best thing I ever did, every time when I get home I wipe the hood with a wet towel to get off the bugs etc... and I dont have to worry about scratching her. "I SAY GO 4 IT" (but it did cost me $800)

RROUNDU 08-09-2007 08:50 PM

Do it, Do it

RacerXSPF 08-10-2007 12:26 AM

Anyone know a good place to have it done in L.A.?? -SPF

Tess 08-10-2007 06:59 AM

Mine is in getting it done as we speak. I feel like I left my first born with a stranger, guess in a way I did.

But, its for his own good.. kind of like giving a kid immunizations.

MirthScout 08-10-2007 07:33 AM

My Mini is a daily commuter. Lots of chips on the front third of the bonnet now. I wish I had gotten the clearbra. Do it.

grahams_da 08-10-2007 07:47 AM

Only had my MINI for a week and I decided to go with it (Autobahnd Road Block brand), so I don't have anything negative to say about it right now.

ikshar 08-10-2007 07:49 AM

I too have been thinking about it...Have an appointment booked, I am a country bumpkin, and commute highway daily to work....
I don't know why I worry if it is a good decision or not, it is right!
Any brands people would specifically stay away from? Or specifically recommend?
This company I am going to uses Clear Bra...Lifteime warranty if bubbles, yellows or peels

MINIFVR 08-10-2007 07:51 AM

I would say put it on for the winter months (if you live in a cold climate where grit is used), and take it off for the summer. Don't worry about bugs- there's claybar for that!

MLPearson79 08-10-2007 09:04 AM

Oy, that would get mighty expensive at $400-900 a pop, depending on where you live. And it's not about bugs - it's about rocks! There are definitely rocks in the summer.

Tess 08-10-2007 09:06 AM

Take it off? Why would you take it off with the expense of putting it back on?

ikshar 08-10-2007 09:14 AM

i certainly would NOT be taking it off...Rocks all year round, the delight of bugs in the summer, and salt in the winter, mmmmm hmmmmmm
