thanks for the DIY

Followed all the instructions. everything worked out really well. I just needed to adjust the aux volume a little bit. Cost a total of $3.50 CAN ($2 bucks for the PC cable and $1.50 for the stereo jack).

Thanks for the posts!

Works for me

I can't say how please I am with this project. It was so easy and works so well I don;t know how I ever made it with the stupid FM transmitters.

It cost me a total of $3 CAN at a used computer parts store and is probably going to be one of the mods I make the most use of.

Thanks for this walk though

do you think it would be possible to this aux diy and the mini ipod adapter at the same time?

Resurrecting an old thread here but i just wanted to say thanks!

My pre owned 2004 mcs came with a mini disc boost stereo and factory nav. I wanted to keep the original stereo but as mini discs are very much a thing of the past i needed an alternative. This diy guide has allowed me to retain the original euipment but have the luxury of my mp3's (whilst also keeping my money where i like best!)

The guide was very helpful and i did not require any resistors as many people have mentioned. I did however already have a plug in the socket where the aux needed to go (nav maybe). All i needed to do was remove the pins from the audio cable plug then insert them into the original mini plug....voila

Top forum guys, many thanks

Just did this simple mod and without pulling the HU out I was able to plug it in from under the drivers knee panel as suggested. Just by feel it took a couple of tries to figure out which were the right pins since I could not see them, but once I had sound, I knew I hit gold. Thanks a bunch all!

One thing to note, I ended up putting a 1/8w 2.7kohm resistor between both + leads to be able to force AUX to come up regardless of what I plug in. I tried with just my iPhone and no resistor and it worked but when I tried the Belkin Bluetooth adapter I was going to end up using, it didn't so the resistor does the trick for all situations.

Now I have my iPhone streaming music via Bluetooth to the AUX port and I can also take calls and listen to the other end on my speakers! Simply AMAZING.

Should have done this ages ago.
