How to Swap / Change / Replace / Remove and Replace your R56 Turbo

I'm gonna put together a simple primer on how to swap out your turbo with an OE replacement I got from BuyAutoParts Kit # 40-80193 IK for $486 delivered (with a coupon) with some of the gaskets included and what additional stuff you may need to purchase.

My 2008 R56 S automatic has 150k miles and Im pretty sure my seals are bad at this point. I did a compression test and I know the combustion chambers are sealing well. I changed the PCV system (valve cover) and I have no oil leaks, so this is the last thing that could be leaking/burning oil. At 150k miles, Im sure its due.

It comes with some of what you need:

- Manifold to turbo o-gasket (quality unknown), 4 copper o-rings, 1 rubber o-ring (not sure what it's for yet), an oil line out paper gasket (?) and another small paper gasket (?).

You still need the following sold by ECS Tuning as a kit (minus the o-ring which is already included with the turbo)

stay tuned...

There are some things that you should change "while you're in there". Incomplete list: oil filter housing seals, oil cooler seals, turbo oil line, etc.

Oh definitely!!! Thanks for making that point. At 150k miles, all those things have been changed twice on my 2008.

-change both turbo oil lines while in there and unless you did it in the last 50k miles change the oil cooler seals.
