The Hawaii Chapter BMW CCA is planning a Street Survival Teen Driving Safety School at the Maui Raceway Park Saturday, May 19. Licensed drivers ages 16 to 21 will receive hands-on driving safety instruction in real-world situations from experienced instructors. Students will drive their own vehicles & learn about handling limits & how to control them. You may stay in the classroom while the instructors are teaching your kids. The instructors will be available throughout the day to answer your questions about the course events. Cost for the program is $60.00 per student. Student capacity is limited to 40 students. Direct questions to Hawaii Chapter Registrar at naschmitt@yahoo.com

We are looking for volunteers from the Maui SCCA and any motorsports enthusiast to be part of this community drving school event! Event staff members needed include course designers, corner workers, instructors and general event staff and security. Ed Menor, President of the Maui SCCA fully supports and endorses this BMW CCA event.
The instructors come from both the BMW CCA and other car clubs from around the area. These folks have all taken several driver training classes themselves to learn the curriculum, techniques, and wording that is used with these classes. This may come in several forms of training – Auto Crossing, Driver’s School, Car Control Clinics, Safety Schools, etc. If you are not sure you would qualify to be an instructor, contact us with a list your experience and we can tell you.
The staff for a Street Survival school will have several duties. The morning of the school, the staff can help with registration check in, setting up the cones for the course, setting up the classroom. During the day, the staff will be responsible for flagging the students on and off the course, replacing any cones that have been knocked out of place when the session is over with, applying water to the course that needs to be wet, and more.
-----------------
So all those Hawaii Teen drivers please consider this event.
