Thanks again for the kind words, folks. I've been trying to get my photography (and photoshop) skills up and going to events like this definitely helps. Like Dirk said, I took somethin like 1200 photos. I had to throw away a LOT of them due to blur / camera shake - I was a goober and left an important piece of gear at home... anyway, I think I got at least a couple shots of each car out there. The yellow lotus - jeez... I got a billion photos of that car.

I should be finished editing the photos tonight and then I'll post them in a "Superlap" folder under the Member Galleries -> Latka. If I can remember I'll post the link here as well.

It was awesome to finally meet some of the other MINI folks. The 'ole 71 chugged and chugged and got me to the track with no problems (I live in Kaneohe). I even met someone who was really interested in buying the car. Heh...unlike all of the other people I've been running into lately who seem to want to just tell me, "Oh yeah, I had one of these in the 60s." (well, buy this one then dammit!) Hahahahaha. :D

I'm going to plan on making it to this Saturday's meet. I gotta get my tuneup done on the '66 Cooper S first.

I think I already posted that one of that stranger with the BIG numbers (that guy's always trying to get attention ).

Another great shot man! Looks like Andrew's homemade splitter is hangin' in there!

 

That was the "edited" one. (cry) you can't tell? I'm crushed! That's it...no more photos. I'm going to get into macaroni decopage.

As I mentioned at the track - I could always tell when one of the MINIs was on the track. That Eaton Supercharger whines like an 8 year old wanting candy! I love that sound...err...the supercharger, not the kids.

 

Oops, my bad.....I actually didn't click the photo of "that guy" to compare. When you sent me the "edited" one, I could tell the difference though.

Hope you saw the other photo too (further down or up).

I bet you thought I drew the eyes but NOPE. I gave the white polish to his DSM crew and they had at it.

 

--Yeah my DSM friends were having their fun with Dirk's white paint because I made them tape up my whole front end. Heehee I told them to go nuts and they did. If you look closely at the front you might see the cigarette they drew hanging out of the car's frown. Just like the owner. Deanna has some good shots of that artwork. I was actually hoping for some more artwork seeing as I had so much canvas. The idea was thrown around to write "pass me" on the back with tape too, but it turned into vaporware. Dirk and Barry stopped by to admire the DSM handywork and after they left there were some mysteriously new writings in the dirt on my untaped door. Something like "scratch!" and "mad mini" were written.

I'm gonna really mummify the car next time and bring extra pens and white polish for everyone. Sign my race tape and give me luck!

it was fun...and i didn't hurl! i but i think i had a good one arm tan!

 

Man I hope they work something out about the track. That was a lot of fun, even just watching!

If they do revive it the '66 Cooper S shall run. Of course that means I need new wheels, tires, shocks, springs, and exhaust - but hey...that's what it's all about

 

if they get another track going, i certainly will be attending superlap again. maybe i can persuade my girlfriend to bring her lexus IS for some racing fun, we got the sport package on it.

I'm finally joining the club. Gotta send my stuff in so I'm all official and whatnot. ...then we might have to have a classic mini DIY day. Err. Of course it'd only help me right now, but I can use all the help I can get!
