If they ever build a tunnel or a bridge from Ohau to the Big Isle, I would sure like to try Saddle Rd. Just the drive over there would be nice, let MINIhune open up a bit and air things out.

Sorry to butt in here, since I'm not actually living in Hawaii (and I'm jealous of you lucky ones who do). I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I took a trip out to Maui in December for a friend's wedding, and had time to drive the Road to Hana. What a great ride! There weren't many folks on the road (I heard it gets crowded), and the weather was great. The best part was taking all of those hairpin turns and switchbacks! By far the most curves on a road I have ever seen. I hope some of you make it over there and get a chance to drive your MINI on it. Do it for me!
Mahalo for letting me chip in on your thread...

Haven't checked the regional forum in awhile ...sorry for the late response
MINIhune is the name of our MINI
MINIAC is on the back plate and front European plate
MNEHNE and MNHUNE already taken
...so, no, I'm not the original MINIhune

>>it's 22 degree's here, i want to go to Hawaii
>>i knew i should of got the sub option
Long ago I was working for a travel agency in L.A., selling tours to Hawaii and this one woman said she didn't like to fly. I suggested she look into the Lurline (still sailing then) and she said no, she wanted to take a train or bus. Wish that bridge existed.
I wish we had car ferries to the other islands at least!

I'm confused...anyone wanna translate?"Kohu'ulaMINI" ?
"MINIhune" ?
"MNEHNE" ?
"MNHUNE" ?
...I'm a NYer wishing he was in Hawaii.
The only 'Big Island' I know about is Long Island!
