More Workers for Mini future production

Did anyone see in the news recently where BMW is adding 200 employees to its assembly plants because of high demand of the Mini? I think it was in the news a couple of days ago. can anyone tell me just how much BMW contributes and in what way to the mini? I know computer and electronics but what else?

Without BMW, there would be no MINI. BMW AG owns MINI and Rolls Royce. They bought Rover Group back in the early 90s and then sold off Rover several years ago after redesigning the Range Rover and upgrading it's electronic bits.

As for BMWs contribution towards MINI, production is based in England, but lots of the engineering comes from Germany as well as company direction. So when the media says BMW is adding 200 more workers, it is an announcement by BMW Group regarding production at MINI.

I believe the MINI's chassis and suspension is based on the old BMW Z3. Massaged a bit, of course, but same basic stuff.
