Aloha and welcome to NAM.
Good to hear from you.
The place to start is at BMW of Maui but if you do come over to Honolulu for other reasons you can always stop by MINI of Hawaii as well. There are quite a few people that come by and do purchases and ship their MINI to Maui. Servicing is done at BMW of Maui so no problem there.
In January the MCS with auto will start to be made so your mother is just in time. Nothing to test drive yet though.
Sweet. She has been curious and I think I am about ready to make my purchase on one too
.
I think we would come over to mini of hawaii probably to take a look at them before we went to bmw of maui.
What is typically the cost I can expect to pay for one? MSRP?? how long does it take to order one. So if we get crazy enough we could purchase one at shelly bmw for delivery in maui? (Might be interesting).
Seems like the mini community is bigger than one could have ever imagined (which is a good thing). I think its the perfect little car for maui. I have about had it with jackson volvo and valley isle ford (AS*****s). How can you install a radio under factory warrenty and have an airbag, car locking failure and all your steering wheel controls gone :( DOWN WITH VALLEY ISLE MOTORS....
I hope that bmw of maui is good. Hopefully they treat people nicely...
Thanks for the support (look forward to continuing to talk with you guys)...
Ohh last question, how do the '05's stack up to the 03~04's?

The price you pay for your car is MSRP. When I ordered a car for my mother back in 2002 it was on Mother's Day and the car was delivered in August. It does take an extra 2 - 3 weeks to get to Hawaii as the Vehicle Delivery Center is in Cali and must be shipped to Hawaii after that.
A helpful hint is to look at the allocation list and find a car that is not spoken for. That way you can either find one that is to your liking, or if you are really lucky, you can spec one that is about to be built.
Maui is a good place to have a MINI as one of my friends is a tech at the BMW of Maui dealership. If you are into autox, the dealer is very supportive of those efforts as they provide food and refreshments for participants on a monthly basis. They also provide BMW of Maui gift certificates for BMW/MINI class winners!

takes between 8 and 12 weeks if you order one. and yup, you pay MSRP...but that beats paying crazy markups some mainland dealerships are charging.
if you come on over to Honolulu...give Randy Acoba a call at MINI of Hawaii (808) 593-8699. He'll take good care of you and can answer any of your questions. He's got lots of experience with outer island buyers and like minihune said, MINI of Hawaii has sold many MINIs which were eventually shipped to Maui.
I believe the 05s offer a little more power and other options like LSD that wasn't available before. Oh, and of course, like your mom wants, now the MCS come in automatic transmission. There's a few new colors like Hyper Blue. A new bigger cup holder. And it seems that since the 2004 models, the "bugs" have been worked out. Oh, yah, and now there's a new 17" wheel...the R99s, I think. pretty nice...I like it.
I suggest doing a search on this forum...there's tons of threads around that talk about the differences between the 2005 MINIs and the "older" models.
Good luck, I'm sure you're mom will LOVE her MINI!

This really seems like the perfect car, and with the good support I have seen so far, its going to come to pass rather soon. What is your friends name who is the tech, I have heard of some service issues (problems with the dealership) and want to make sure she gets the best service on her baby.
