That's pretty small.

I think everyone should have a smart car.

And we get to keep the MINIs so we can be the "Big" cars in town!

Anything earlier than 2008 in the US has been federalized, and that's probably why the prices are close to $30k. Not sure why someone would spend 30k on a 14k car!

I'm going to seriously consider one when they come out. I've been told at 6'6" I'll fit with plenty of room in the car. Hmm... H Stock for SCCA I bet.

They're very safe cars and have done quite well in European crash testing.

Plus they get insane gas mileage and you can park 'em anywhere.

I was on the H1 freeway driving home from the airport in traffic and saw the distinctive headlights of the smart twofour in my rear view mirror.

It's pretty small on the roads. I think you'd want some really bright colors to stand out and be seen, not too dark and stealthy.

They should be given permanent car pool status even with one person.

It's really too bad that the current early price is so high but the old stock that he's selling is essentially been sitting around for a long time with conversion and shipping.

People pay more to be different. The gas mileage is not really that much better than the better hybrids from Toyota and Honda right now and they aren't charging $30,000. Except for the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

"reseller"

and not a "dealer" since they haven't announced the dealer network yet???

I guess 100% dealer markup is not bad for importing 2005 and 2006 Smart cars.

I talked with this fella as well. thats exactly what he is doing. simply taking advantage of the situation to make some $$

I'm all for it I suppose, but I would sure hate to be one of those SUCKERS that paid more than double when they actually do get them at a real dealership here

This guy "represents" himself as a "dealer". He's not based on the information we have above.

He DOES have cars to sell and he doesn't have much of a dealership infrastructure to help him so business costs are likely higher.

Car dealers don't buy the cars outright or have to pay for aftermarket conversions piece by piece and multiple shipping. All this adds to the "enjoyment" of owning a "new" smart car. Maybe it's not so "Smart" to own one yet.

For $13,000 I can see them being very popular. I'd like the performance version.
