Dinan Software Upgrade
Dinan Software Upgrade
I was at Mini of Hawaii for service this am and learned that there is a Dinan software upgrade. Power gain is 9HP @ 7000 rpm. Anyone had this done on their MCS? .....can comment on the results?
George - I'm quite familiar with Dinan products as I have them on 3 BMWs. Typically for the BMW, the Dinan power curve is at WOT (Wide Open Throttle). Other BMW tuners such as Jim Conforti were able to get more hp over the entire rpm range.
One thing to ask for is a dyno sheet to see where the power difference is on the rpm curve. If it is at the high rpms such as 6k+ you will not feel it unless you shift at redline. It all depends on your driving style and whether it would accomodate the ECU flash.
Another thing to consider in looking at dyno sheets is where the dyno is located and who operates it. About a year ago in Car & Driver there was an article interviewing Steve Dinan about dynos and how you could fudge data based on environmental conditions.
However, Dinan software will allow you to keep your factory warranty intact, which in itself is very valuable!
If you ever want to install stuff like an intake or strut brace, let me know.
