Power Steering

I know Keikelee had some problems with her steering, but now I'm experiencing some trouble now. Sometimes when reversing out when I put the car into drive its gets hard to turn the wheel like there's no power steering and thats sometimes. Most of the time its good no problems. Only difference would be the power steering is louder than before. I already have a schedule to bring it into service next week Sat. hopefully it's nothing bad so they wouldn't have to take away my car for a week or 2 .

Keikilee did you bring in you car yet?

uh oh!!!!! I'm getting my MINI back in about an hour. My my power steering was all jam up! I actually had something broken which is why it resulted in me not having my MINI for a week. The part that they needed to order (which I think was the rack) took several days to come in. The work itself only took one day. So, hopefully if you need to fix something, the part is in stock.

what happened with me was the rack busted and the fluid leaked into the boots. So they needed to replace the parts and clean everything up. It cause my steering wheel to feel like it was skipping at times, and it also made the power steering louder than normal.

check your fluid level and let us know what you find. also...did you go for your 10k mile service yet? They would have checked the fluid level at that time which would be a good indicator as to whether or not your have a busted part or simply low of fluid.

Well a couple weeks I brought in my mini for it's 1 year service. They said they topped off all the liquid so hopefully power steering was one of them unless someone didn't do they're job. Also for the life of me I can't find the power steering underneath the bonnet I guess I'm just blind. Where it at??

the PS fluid is in a round black container. It's all the way near the windshield in the middle...it has a green circle on the cap.

oh...btw...I had also recently taken my MINI in for it's 10k mile service where the techs topped off the fluid. That's why when I started hearing the noises I got concerned and made my appointment.

x3? how's about a m3? i assume they're giving you the bimmer cause your service/fix is taking so long.

any fix yet for the poor mileage? i think your mileage that i last heard is nearly comparable to a m3.

That's funny - Crevier gave me a BMW and I can't wait to get my MINI back - I hate the Beemer (although the automatic is nice for a change!)

That's because she drives her MC like an M3!

Hope they fix your PS very soon.
Otherwise they'll need a crowbar to pry you out of the X3.

well...my milage got a little bit better...but I'm still at 17mpg (formerly 15mpg).

and yes, like minihune said...I abuse my poor MC and my gas mileage has some to do with with driving...but not a lot.

MINI of Hawaii can take their time with my MC...I'm very happy with what I have right now!

Except for the not so high gas mileage it's very tempting to do some "motoring" in the X3. Did that "ever" cross your mind????

OK, I guess you're too innocent to have those thoughts.

Hey, 17 mpg is a 13.333333% improvement! Maybe you really have a V8 in your MC and not the little engine you think you have. Did you check in the boot, maybe the other half of the engine is sitting in the area for your spare tire.
