If you are interested in joining the BMW CCA then the 4/17 tech session would be a good thing to go to. You get to meet many of the active members and see the cars that will be driving in the Spring Fling.

The BMW CCA has regular events throughout the year. We should have a few MINI owners to talk to as well.

I put it on my calendar but a camping trip may conflict. Yeah, I know ... priorities, priorites, priorites (or was that "license and registration"?). Passing it on to three other motorers I work with.

Aloha

I think we had at least 7 MINIs at the tech fest tonight. And little or no rain the whole time!

The BMW CCA turn out was excellent. The most I have ever seen in the last year.
Good job getting the word out.

A big thank you to Bavarian Motor Electronics and Voytech Szymanski for allowing us to use his spacious facility and for doing the tech inspections. (Thanks Alf)
Many thanks to our sponsors: BMW of Honolulu and MINI of Hawaii.
Many thanks to our illustrious BMW CCA officers and Spring Fling organizing staff.
And thanks to our judges (including our own Lazule) and barbeque cooks.

It was tempting to see the used M3 and M6 vintage BMWs for sale.

Congrats to minihune for winning the cleanest MINI in our clean car contest. Unfortunately Lazule lost her crown for dirtiest car. That went to BMWCCH membership chair and his Z3 which he just washed prior to coming to the event. Competition was fierce this year as the scrutineers left no space unchecked and often took 30 minutes ot inspect a car.

Definitely a good turnout and a great event.

the_beastmaster,
I noticed my tech inspection sheet did not have a signature or stamp on it - is this OK?

It should be okay as I will vouch for your car being teched at BME. My word is my bond, and I don't break my word or my ***** for anyone.

Your "*****"?
You mean those dangly black plastic things suspended on strings that hold up my MINI's rear boot shelf?
Oh yeah, forgot, you sold your MCS.

And I will vouch I saw your there and even brought your MCS. No joke.

The day of the event there might even be a late comer to sign up and need a tech inspection last minute.
But I hope not. We are probably a little over half full with participants so far. I think we will reach 40.
Owen says very many are new comers.

I believe we are more than half full as there are other cars that Motorwerkes will tech. I also have a few more people that are coming but have not filled out the application.

If there are people who show up and register on the day of the event, they probably will not be tech'd in time to start with everyone else. Instead, they will have to wait on the sidelines until someone can tech their car. Or, the more probable scenario is we will simply tell them thank you for coming, but we are full and are unable to accomodate you.

Actually, I got my certification from the dealership as I've spent enough time there. In this case, ASE stands for Another Stupid Excuse.

I thought they looked cute.
Which one is which?
Nevermind.
Bananas lead to gas.
Banana gas.
Not sure on the octane number for that one.
Might be strong enough to power only a skateboard.

Yup, it could have been me and bgrpph since we both had some repairs to do and it seemed like we were hanging out there like a bunch of buddies.

Then again, that pair looks like they would drive LY MINIs and we have blue ones.

That looks like Dale and Terrence from BMW after they had their ice cream break, or Daniel and Tony chasing after me in freeway traffic in Daniel's car.

Dale and Terrence like to go for ice cream breaks in the afternoon and they walk across the street ot the store in Imperial Plaza. Sometimes they are walking back while still eating their ice cream.

As for Daniel and Tony, they chased after me one day on the freeway right after work. The car was pretty full with 3 people in it. It kinda reminded me of Starsky and Hutch with Huggy Bear thrown in. On other words, they were real buddy buddy, like Will Smith And Martin Lawrence.
