rattle, rattle, rattle
defective throw-out bearing
failure to put car back together properly after repair
inattentiveness to detail, damage to car
defective a/c blower that suddenly stops working
a/c blower is replaced with a new part which is also DEFECTIVE
lotsa unnecessary headache and lost wages bringing car in and out of service

remember, car was bought brand NEW in june 2003 and i've had it for less than 5 months and the car has ONLY 1035 miles on it

sorry to hear you are having troubles, not only with the car but your dealer, I am not on their favorite customer list. I do not put up with shoddy workmanship when I am having to pay Mercedes prices to have something done on my Mini S.

Not that I am defending the MINIs just because I work here...1 thing you gotta remember...every and I mean every car manufacturer has these kind of problems. Sometimes 1 car out of every 5,000 will be a problem car. Not saying that you are the one with bad luck but keep that in mind....I have been in the auto industry for about a decade now, and trust me every make model and brand has its own problems... MINIs and BMWs have more electrical problems than most othercars, because they are more technologically advanced.....now I have NO comment about the service dept.....

Been in the auto industry for a decade? Did you start at the age of 12? No wonder you have those "older" women chasing after you!

well i'm beginning to think i am the 1/5000 with the mini pooper.
[edit]...and so far, my problems havent been with the electrical problems (knock on wood). they're functional problems with dysfunctional parts. makes me wonder how it just so happens that i get 2 bad parts in a row.

You might be 1/660 cause we didn't sell 5000 MINIs in Hawaii yet.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. You need a lucky charm.

See, my solution is if you change out nearly all the stock parts by 9 months then there isn't anything left in there that could go wrong. All the problem parts have been removed and are lying around in my garage already so I don't have to go to the dealer.

Does the lemon law apply in your case???

When interns get this sort of constant gloom we call it "dark clouds are hovering over you".
Where is a good Kahuna when you need one?

Mini-T, sorry about your a/c and other issues. only 1,000 miles in 5 months- you've got to drive & drive & drive. i put 1,200 in 1st two weekends just to break it in- and as minihune said replace everything with aftermarket parts to go fast, look nice, handle & sound better
I've also had t/o bearing problem which was fixed with new clutch, etc. Glen (shop forman) followed up as he promised - my ECU will be sent to NJ next week to hopefully cure once and for all the stumble problem. At times i think as you've stated, but when i'm driving (stumble & all) its just much damn fun compared with anything else.

It's not even 1/660 as there are some other MINIs that have experienced a myriad of problems and MoH has had to deal with them.

As for the Lemon Law, I believe this car will qualify for it as time is on t's side.

well, if you do decide to give up on your mcs, don't give up altogether on mini's. would it help a bit if i let you test drive my new mcs? plus, it still has the new car smell, i think. just picked it up today. still gotta break it in though. and yes, i think minihune and bgrpph may be onto to something regarding changing everything possible out. i think i'm off to a pretty good start, don't you agree?

Well, if the car isn't to t's satisfaction, she should definitely do something about it. Lemon law is definitely an option. Or maybe something like this

Someone with a CL500 had problems with their dealer and parked their car in front of the dealership with lemons all over the car with a LARGE sign stating the car was a lemon. Of course this was after no action by the dealership and it really got their attention! I think the dealer ended up buying the car back from the owner.

How's about a Sti, EvoVIII, or SLK32?

How about a Lotus Elise! (pick a number and stand in line)
Blue or Red?

Green?

Black?

Or silver. About $40K!!!

now that will make a statement....will see what happens in the next couple of weeks. i actually saw a car in city square in kalihi that had signs all over it saying that one of the big car dealers here ripped her off, sold a lemon, blah, blah....it surely caught my attention.

STi - i've liked that car ever since i drove one.
Evo VIII - overpriced
SLK AMG - we actually have one for sale, its waiting for you to buy it, beastmaster!

You have a SLK32 for sale? That's tempting, but I think I'd like a purple M3. Plus, the SLK will remind me of my ex. She still drives a black SLK sport.

If you decide to go the lemon route, put some plastic sheeting and some cloth between the lemons and your roof.

Don't forget to use a cloth between the magnets and the car.

mini-t I know how you feel because the rattle on my MINI still haven't been fix at all. Don't know how many time I had visited the dealer and it seem no one can be able to find the problems with the rattle.

I am thinking about going back to the Japanese car like Honda S2000, Nissan 350Z or even WRX STi but the thought of giving up my MINI is so unbearable.
