Any recommendations for a mechanic / performance shop that can install aftermarket goodies on a MINI???

Do you live on Maui or are your moving to Maui or are you checking for a customer of Mini Mania that lives on Maui?

Offhand I would say ask the MINI of Hawaii dealership if they know of anyone. For dealership servicing so far all servicing goes through the BMW of Hawaii service dept in Honolulu on Oahu even if you live on the outer islands.

For upgrades, a handful of us on Oahu have used various independent shops for help in installations or we do it ourselves. None of the BMW shops have worked on MINIs.

For Maui I would look for a european car specialist- someone that knows BMWs well.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I have a customer that wants his MINI modified, Stage II plus some, and he is looking for someone 'familiar' with new MINIs.

Can you recommend any of the various independents that has worked on MINIs?

While there are some MINIs that are on Maui, I don't have any contact with them and don't know if any have done any significant mods.

On Oahu there are quite a few heavily modded MCS and some modded MC and on the big island of Hawaii there is one heavily modded MCS but that is it.

Generally if your customer lives on Maui he would have to call around to each european specialty shop and ask if they will work on a MINI or have done so. Not all will agree as none of the BMW specialty shops in Honolulu are currently doing big MINI mod work. So far it is do it yourself and a few independent shops in Honolulu. It's pretty lacking at this point.

There is BMW of Maui that will do MINI servicing and even a JCW kit install. On the other islands other than Oahu and Maui, MINI servicing goes through MINI or HI and the BMW service center. So MINIs are shipped to have work done. Very inconvenient and takes about 2 weeks to get your car back.
