Some of my favorites and in no particular order:

1. 'Auloa Road.
2. That short road in Mililani that leads to Waipio Valley. (too bad there's a trench drain near the end.
3. The "Winding Road" to Wailua (but dangerous, too many fatalities caused by irresponsible drivers and it's occasional a speedtrap).
4. Any multi-level parking lot...going up!

anymore?

Kal Hwy from Hawaii Kai drive to Makapuu.
I used to take my track car out at 2 am and scare the ***** out of the Honda/Acura boys who thought their cars could handle. Imagine this, a BMW 635csi tooling along the road at 60-70 mph with Hondas trying to hang with the Big Dog.

Round Top Drive
My brother had a SCCA Solo I car when I was in high school and I did the Tantalus run in @ 14 minutes.

Multi level parking lot? Try the Harbor Court parking lot!

Another good place to drive is through Maunawili and through Kawainui Marsh.

Yup, Harbor Court. If only they took out those speed bumps. There's a couple levels near the top where the bumps are gone. I also like leaving the tailgaters behind when I can squeeze between the bump and the adjacent parked car. That part almost near the bottom when going downhill....it's like riding a wave!

Speed Bumps? When did they put those in? I used to live there for a few years and loved going up and down the parking lot. Of course, I did get too close to those yellow plastic divider poles and had some marks on my left rear door!

I hated it when the new owners took over and I HAD to park in the resident's parking lot on the 12th floor, or else my card would be locked out!

Besides the roads already mentioned-
Sure there are many roads that curve a bit but they are all short (but sweet)
1. Old pali road from the lookout headed back to town.
2. Off ramp on H1 west on the curve headed to Ewa Beach -2 lanes take a long sweeping curve
3. On ramp onto H1 east at Waipahu headed up Kunia road/Ft.Weaver road-2 lanes quick curve
4. On ramp onto H1 west from Kunia road heading north or south-gradual curves leading to 60 mph zone!
5. Short curvy access road from Waipio to Mililani Cemetery
6. Track at Hawaii Raceway Park- sign up for the Aloha 500-now!

holy smoly! 60-70 mph on kalanianaole between hawaii kai and sandys!?

my novice fave roads/stretches are (in no particular order)
1) punchbowl - this i where i did my 15 min. test drive and got hooked
2) H-3 onramp from kaneohe heading west - nice curve with speed to merge...i've only gone 45-50 mph max thus far... hope to push it further after Aloha 500
3) H-2 offramp into minilani town - just gotta watch out for backed up cars at the stop light though...guess this is true with all offramps
4) pali and likelike eastbound immediately after exiting the tunnels...but heard that there's a speed-monitoring device in the likelike...my co-worker, of HFD, stated that some guy was clocked at 120+ mph in the tunnel...a HPD patient stated that he's seen many a nasty accident though while cars exit the tunnels due to moss on the road
5) that nasty turn from likelike onto the H-1 eastbound - it kinda lulls you to sleepw with a nice big turn, but at the end it suddenly sharpens quite a bit
6) in salt lake on likini st. towards the foster village side, there's a weird kinda round about 4-way yield intersection - very short, but kinda cool as it requires you to change directions very quickly in a very short distance without smashing your wheels into the curb

all of these i've found thru driving to and from work. and i do hope to learn to drive these areas with much improved control after the aloha 500.

Actually, this is on the strip from Hanauma Bay to Sandy's. I'm faster on the return route from Sandy's to Hanauma since I'm on the inside I can push it harder.

Another good place is the Punchbowl off ramp coming from the Ewa side. After I hit the exit, I accelerate and usually hit @ 70 with the MCS and slow down at the right hander. Textbook stuff through the chicane and then a hard right.

Yes, in an MCS 60 or 70 on curves with the right/correct line is just fine. Just be careful of others nearby.

Yes, I noticed this is also very good as is in the opposite direction headed north on punchbowl heading to Pali or to H1 west . Going through the underpass- just be careful.

Most of the tunnels and highways going over to the windward side are fun to do once you get to the windward side. I like going up on curves at the Pali especially.

Actually, those Banzai runs were with my 635csi! I do that late at night since there is usually no traffic other than the Honda/Acura boys hanging at Sandy's, and I have a chance to see oncoming cars due to their headlights, and vice versa.

IIRC there are some nice roads on Maui, especially the highway from Wailuku to Lahaina. Beautiful ocean views and some twisties to boot!

The Road to Hana (sp?). Man, I remember that arduous drive in a freaking crappy Toyota Terdcel. I love HI, all of it!

Yes this is good- like Pacific coast highway driving along the ocean except shorter- don't get stuck behind something slow.
And Yes the road to hana is also nice. Each island has some good curvy or scenic roads- sometimes clogged with visitors, you might not be able to take
full advantage of your MINI.

How about that little road (don't know the name of it) that is right at the base of the pali. When you are going towards Kailua down the Pali, and you come to the first traffic light, you make a right at that light. Not too long, but there are lots of good twisties

You all need to pack up & ship your MINIs to Missouri. Then I could take all of you on some really fine roads. We don't have mountains but we have lots of twisty, turny, hilly roads overlooking gorgeous river valleys, vineyards, idyllic countrysides, & good ol' Ozark hills(we call them mountains) I know it's not Hawaii but it's a lot better than mall parking lots & exit ramps on highways

Hi to my buddies,
Lois

I know that this is not exactly the place to post this, but I realize that this is the best way to get the attention of the Hawaiian contengency. We are in the process of producing and printing the Hawaiian flag for the MINI Cooper. I should have pictures of it up on the site in the near future. If you guys want to get in on a group buy I'll knock off a good percentage if you can get 5 people to order at the same time. This will also cut down on shipping. We will have the flag in all three of our versions

Perforated Sunroof only cover
full roof w/o sunroof
full roof w/ sunroof

I'll extend the discount to our boot and bonnet stripes if anyone wants to add in a set or two.

Post here or shoot me an e-mail at matt@cooperflags.com

That's actually the Maunawili run. Another good place is through the Norfolk area.

Mini-Matt,..dude, all you got to do is start a "new topic". You'd get a lot more feedback with a topic title pertaining to your product. Just post it in the Hawai forum.

The_Beastmaster, isn't that 'Auloa?
Yes Harbor Court does have speed bumps now AND they are those really high sharp-faceted prefab types that are bolted down.
And yes, I was wondering why residence parking is at the very top. Didn't make sense. What a pain for the people who live there.

I believe it is. I haven't tried going up, but going done you really can test the steering response. When friends & I used to cycle, we used to take our roadbikes down there...now THAT'S A RUSH.

We should just get a few of us together and meet somewhere. Then go driving to see these places in person. Drive it a few times. Bring the walkie talkies/family radio. Do some spotting for each other. Keep it safe but do some Motorin.
Maybe do it in the middle of the night to really early in the morning and stop on the windward side for breakfast-dessert. Whatever.

Yeah, the same Auloa that Sullivan's Daddy started this off with. The sportbike contingent called it 'thirteen corners' but I never actually counted. This is THE 'shortcut ' to Kailua for the two wheel speed set. Be warned and wary when the weather is good, they'd make lousy hood ornaments.
Thanks for giving recognition to the Pali, it's my daily commute.
I leave early enough so the traffic is light in the morning, and in the afternoon its no brakes to the junction.
