The Aloha 500 tech session will be held Saturday, July 12 from 4 pm to 7 pm at BME Hawaii.

Along with teching cars for the Aloha 500, Alf Schneider will be going over vehicle maintenance tips and performance modifications. We will also have a paintless dent removal session for all those interested.

I might come by for the fun of it or to hear the lecture. Is it potluck?
Do they want to put my car up on a lift to take a peak at it? Sometimes I like to see what it looks like from below or grab some pictures that I can't normally get.
Maybe it depends how busy they are. Hopefully I will have some lighter wheels by then.
I will keep my fingers crossed.

I thought Alf "WAS" nice last time??? I'm confused. Isn't he always critical? I guess I hang around that sort of person at work too much. Time to get a life. Time to go motorin.

Yup, I signed up to be a member of BMWCCA. You have a choice of 1 to 3 years. I did it online and we need to support the club and the driving school events if we want to keep having them. So hope to see you and your MC or MCS there. I checked and I should be free. :smile:
What controversy over changing oil intervals? Just follow the guide on the dash according to the dealer's manual. Figure about 11 to 12,000 miles. You can change it earlier if you want but that's your choice. It's not going to do any harm either way in my book.

Oooh! Lots of MINIs today and lots of ///M cars, too!

 

Well the tech session went pretty well and several MINIs were there. Always nice to see them from below as they ride up the lift. I got a good look at the header and cat. Tiny cat- looks like a small copper colored coffee can. Saw the two O2 sensors.

Also got a good look at the suspension and all those things I changed out. Neat view. Much better than crawling under the car.

Thanks to Alf for the lecture. Interesting stuff. Thanks to BMWCCA for pizza, chicken, bread and drinks. Thanks to BME, Owen and the Beastmaster for your work in organizing this and the Aloha 500.

I really liked the Dent Dr. guy. A true artist.

 

It was a great day as we teched many cars including kbseto, brrgrrph, the other Brad, and others that I can't remember. Add yourself in if I missed you!

 

So far I have counted about 5 MINIs for the Aloha 500 and all of them are first timers!
That's great, maybe in the future we can have a bunch of us in the intermediate group.
Take some video- it's good to review. I was too busy driving last time but if you can get someone to do it
that would be nice. I know that last time Latka was doing some video.

 

Since I missed the tech session at BME Hawaii, my MINI will be tech'ed tomorrow at BMW of Honolulu ( MINI Service )

For those who haven't been teched yet, do so NOW! It's required to attend the ALOHA 500

I looked at your app tonight and you are sandbagging! Novice category? Based on your background in racing, we moved you up. After all, you do need a challenge! It should be interesting in your run group with the 930, 993tt and 2 M5s. You should be okay since we're running the short track in the morning!

 

I'll be there @ 9 am because they have to check the left headlight on my car. I think the adjuster broke.

Yeah, you told me you were considering yourself less experienced and out of practice- I don't buy that either.
You have raced before and though you have a stock MC, that will just make it more interesting. Skill counts.
