mini sighting
haven't seen that one yet, don't think. by the way have you seen a silk green/black MC CVT with roof racks right next door, between pahke's and kim chee's? it's usually parked kinda perpendicular to kamehmeha hwy right behind the telephone pole by the exit for pahke's. it's there every mwf all day. yep, that would be me. if you got the time, stop by that single story white building and go thru the left door by the soda machine. that's where kyle would be.
by the way, anybody tried the desserts at pahke's? i swear that they got some of the best desserts on the island for a reasonable price. luxury hotel quality at a family restaurant price. the owner used to be the dessert chef at halekulani. they've got a separate menu for desserts, about 8 total with new ones every so often. green tea ice cream is da bomb. lychee sorbet on almond float with fresh fruits is my personal fave.

Aloha and welcome to MCO,
If you have a MINI sighting then post it in the exhisting topic- "Post here if you spot a MINI in hawaii" rather than start a "New" topic each time you spot another MINI.
>>I was over at Pahkes in Kaneohe when I spotted a brand new all Pepper White beauty- she still had the paper plate on.
Someday these pepper whites could be cooper S models so watch out in 2004 and beyond!

Cheap delicious desserts?? How do I get to Pahke's??? I dont' know Kaneohe that well ... could you give directions from H-3?
The green tea ice cream - do they make it themselves? Dave's Ice Cream has some awesome green tea ice cream. I wouldn't mind trying a new recipe, though.

Pahkes is in kaneohe right next to the kaneohe Post Office and accross the street from Star Market. H3 to Kam Hwy. exit -just stay on that road- if you see Windward mall on your left, you've gone just past the restaurant. Good luck and good eats!
me and everyone else who's tried pahke's green tea ice cream think it's far better than dave's. somehow it's more...creamy and not as strong on the green tea flavor. and yes raymond, the owner, said he makes it himself. in fact, sometimes when we order some for take out he tells us he needs some time to go make up a batch. i promise the desserts at pahke's are a winner. at least one dessert on the menu is guaranteed to satisfy your dessert cravings. or two, or three, or more. i think they're generally about $4-$5.
the nearest cross street is kahuhipa and kamehameha, with pahke's being on kamehameha hwy. if you're cruising north toward kahaluu, pahke's is about 4 buildings after kahuhipa on the mauka side of the hwy. i believe, in order, it goes mahalo gas station, kim chee's, kaneohe PT/diagnostic lab services, pahke's. it's part of the tiny strip mall just before the post office. turn in at the far side of the parking lot, the entrance just before the post office. the earlier one is a one way exit.
in fact, the desserts are so good, sometiimes we just go in for dessert. and by the way, at the corner of kamehameha hwy and kahuhipa is premium gas for $2.01. i believe right now only costco is cheaper.

Ok- this thread is now totally consumed by Pahke's
So tell Latka that the next time we have a MINI rally over on the windward side that we MUST-
yes MUST stop at Pahke's and sample each one of the desserts.
Easy enough. Let's go for breakfast.
Why don't I just tell them to open a branch in MINIlani?
Now that would be nice. Then we could rally from store to store sampling desserts as we go.

yes, yes...a mini rally with dessert stops instead of pit stops for gas. since i work all over the island, i'm always open for new tasty spots. minilani, kaneohe, wahiawa, and of course east honolulu and wherever else inbetween.
if a pahke's opened in minilani, i would definitely be a VIP customer at both restaurants, 5x/week.

OK so at the meeting on Sunday I will bring up this idea. See if others are interested.
Besides, the MINI doesn't need pit stops for gas it's too fuel efficient unless you like driving around with a quarter tank. I do that by the way. Just to save the 8 pounds per gallon weight. I jettisoned my tool kit and jack out of the boot.
I could pull out my rear seats but now my amp is bolted into one of them.

Yes, Minihune, please try to convince everyone. That sounds like a good idea, a Dessert Rally, something that kids and I know my wife would enjoy. Besides gotta keep the sugar levels up when motorin'.
(sorry-I can't make it to the movie or meeting today)
