Papers don't have much to choose from-like as in zero.
I know, I check every week.

Hey- beastmaster- please contact mini-t about any prospects on a good used MCS for sale.
She doesn't want to go with the high retail prices on the new units.
Know of any bargains? Sure you do.

I didn't know you were a heart surgeon! Of sorts.
But I did know that you are working on your 6 series race car-Good luck and hope everything fits and runs great.
Then maybe both Mini-t and you will have nice cars wandering about.

AutoSource had an EB/W MCS I saw a couple of weeks ago. Don't know if they sold it already. Had a lot of extra custom mods. Don't know what they were selling it for.

That must be one fast puppy! With those mods it should be running mid 13s in the 1/4!

Congrats-
You have a really nice "NEW" DS/W MCS with white bonnet stripes (gonna keep the stripes?). If you get a chance to take a picture-please post it here in the Hawaii topic area. I talked to MiniKahuna about you looking for a used MCS. We discussed the various options and lack of used coopers in the Hawaii market. We also talked about modified cars in general and unless you know the seller you don't really know what was done to the car when doing mods. Then you buy it used and if there is a problem when you take it to the dealer they can tell you- "Sorry- this car has been modified and the warranty is void". That could really be a problem so with a New car you are very safe. So just drive it around a bunch just as is and enjoy.

Welcome mini-t to our MINI ohana!

Don't forget to express your MINI buying experience on MCO's Dealer Rating System. I have a hunch the folks at M of H took good care of you

I'll be on the look out for your DS/W MCS.
MOTOR ON!!!

mini-t,

You have a great new DS/W MCS sitting around needing to be driven so that those break in miles can be done.
Tell us how your learning is going with the manual transmission practice. From your point of view.
I'm trying to learn from you as I am teaching both my daughters this summer how to drive my MCS- just for the fun of it.

got the car on tuesday and finally drove it tonight (friday) in kahala for about 2 hours. yes, i stalled many times , especially when i knew a car was behind me (i know, i know, it's all in the mind). *sigh* it was fun, though. will take it out again tomorrow and hopefully i won't hold up any traffic!

now that everyone knows i'm not the most proficient standard driver, please dont scare me if you see me on the road!!!!!

still need to learn driving uphill, but we'll save that for another day.

anyone wanna offer driving lessons?! heheheh.

Holding up traffic is a must if you drive standard. Even the most proficient drivers will stall once in a while. As I tell my students (my two daughters) I have stalled exactly three times in my MCS over the last 4800 miles. So what, I just start it back up again and go. Not a problem. There are only two type of MCS drivers. Those who have stalled and those who will stall.

>>now that everyone knows i'm not the most proficient standard driver, please dont scare me if you see me on the road!!!!!

Shucks. Did you have to ask us to do this!!!

>>still need to learn driving uphill, but we'll save that for another day.

Yes, for now just drive downhill only. Wait a minute, how do you get back to where you were? Shucks again.
We do not live on a mobius strip.

>>anyone wanna offer driving lessons?! heheheh.
I don't need more students-plus I have only one MCS and a daytime job to boot.

All it takes is practice. If you need a safe place to whip around in your MCS there is the Aloha 500 coming up at Hawaii Raceway park on July 25. You have 27 more days! It's like a count down to christmas.

I can teach you. There are lots of places to practice, usually school parking lots. In the Kahala area, KCC's parking lot would be the best as it has a level area and an area with a slight incline.

Of course, I don't know if the other guys would want me to teach you as you may be lapping them at the Aloha 500! Actually, that is a great venue to learn what your car can do at the limit and to see how it handles in various situations.

mini-t,
I all depends who you talk to about the loaners. There are times when a loaner for you is possible. Best example is if the dealer needs to keep your car for more than a day for warranty work. If you need a loaner just let me know and we can discuss it. Some lead time helps- gotta plan ahead. Don't talk to the service dept on this-they offered me the courtesy shuttle too but it doesn't go past the airport- right, I work way past the airport. Anything is possible- just ask- the right person.
