Child Seat Install?

Hi Everyone,

with the GP not having rear seats can the front airbag be deactivated in order to install a child seat or booster seat? I'm hoping the answer is yes as I have young kids that would love to ride in the MINI with me

Can you legally have a child seat in the front seat of a car in the US?

And are you talking about a first generation GP or a second generation GP?

Children can ride in the front seat if there is no backseat. I'm asking specifically about the GP2 and in looking at an owners manual I found online the airbag can't be turned off but the pressure sensor should deactivate the airbag based on weight and illuminate an airbag off warning. I'll have to do some more research

I tried tethering a pair of rear facing seats to the red crossbar and the tie downs in the boot so I could transport my visiting sister and her two little daughters. It was a very sturdy rig but in the end we didn't put it to use.

I would never play with safety. Just get a rental for a few days.

It is cheaper than having regrets after an accident.
