A Daily Driver? What?

There seems to be a line of thinking that the GP is no way a DD and should garage kept and track driven. I love mine. I take it to work everyday, groceries, etc. These cars are meant to be enjoyed. I enjoy mine by driving it everywhere. I'll take mine to track days any chance I get, but I'd be sorely disappointed if I didn't get to have fun it all the time. I'm a very proud GP driver.

-end rant-

I guess some came with run flats and some didn't. I don't think my kumho tires are run flats... 4k+ for me and I try to daily drive it except when it's raining.

Mine came with khumos with the option to swap for run flats (for better wear and all season driving). Khumos are only good for dry roads and the track.

Zillion,

If you do not mind me asking, where in Chicago did you pickup your GP? I live in a suburb about 30 miles South. Just curious.

All i know the resale value has to be the worst in this car. I'd be lucky to get 28k for mine and it only has 4k miles on it. Kinda suck keeping the car for good or lose your a$$

Car is 2 years old at this point, miles or not.

Also, cars are horrible investments.

Best thing is to just drive it and enjoy it. The first year or two of depreciation are the worst, then the curve slowly flattens out.

That would be the lowest price I've seen to date. It comes down to condition and how well it was maintained.

It's not really a "good deal". The price reflects the mileage. Also have a look at the exterior condition of the car as he says its mostly highway driven.

Paint was fine. The front decal is abit faded and some scuff on the wheels. Other then that every seem good.

My front decal faded badly despite being garage kept. Dealer replaced under warranty. No other decals have faded.

Chatted with the dealer, they believe is cause by the engine heat. I should ask if they can warranty it for me too.

Hopefully they will. In my '09 JCW their was a similar issue except the hood scoop warped from the engine heat.

Which number is on the car? Car 16 was involved in an accident in December. I almost bought it but Yaletown found me #42.

I bought car #9.

I think Mini Yaletown will buy in the one with the accident last time I chat with them.

Have started looking again in SoCal & noticed a non-Mini dealer has one with 23,000 miles for about $30K, looks like a lease/commuter. Miles are more than I want, am thinking $25,000?

Gp2 dd

Huh, interesting. No way $30k for one with 20k miles or more, especially from non-dealer. $25k maybe. Keep looking, good ones are out there.

I'm noticing the GP2 taking a hit in resale value. At least since I last checked, 6-12 months ago. I paid $38k almost 2 years ago and they are now going for $25k with ~20,000 miles. That seems like a lot of depreciation when GP1's are still going for $17-20k.

I was thinking of trading my GP2 in for a Countryman (JCW maybe) for my wife, taking her paid off TDI as a DD and then buying a classic Mini as a fun car + sometimes driving the Countryman. Not so sure after seeing what I can get for the GP2. I think I'd rather keep it.
