spare tire

Hello I was wondering if any of you know of any spare tire options for our cars. either space saver or not that fit over the front brakes.

regards

diego garcia

PS.road side assistance does not work well in mexico, and we have tons of pot holes, a spare is a must on long trips.

Minifini.com has a rear spare tire carrier mount. It sells that basic mount and several attachments like the spare tire carrier, Bike carrier, tow hitch, etc.

Here is a picture of the Tire Carrier

My mini R112's from my JCW fit over the GP brakes with a 15mm spacer.

However, probably easier to get any cheap mini rim that will fit over the rear. Virtually any mini rim will fit over the rears. If you get a flat on the front, then you can jack the car up from the front jack point so that both the front and rear wheels are off the ground at the same time. Put the cheap spare on the rear, move the good rear to the front, and you're done!

That way, if it is really just for a spare you only need to find one that fits over the rear, which is virtually every mini wheel.

Just make sure the rim and tire combo has the same rolling diameter as the stocks. Otherwise it will completely freak out the cars management system, and be dangerous.

You can use a normal MINI spare but it has to be put on the rear to clear larger front brakes. If you get a front flat, you need to move a good rear wheel/tire to the front and put the spare on the rear.
